Lime & Mineral Based Plasters Workshop With Mike Krawiec of IUPAT Featuring old world finishes with a contemporary twist. Class will include many of the clean look finishes in demand by interior designers White inlaid plaster as seen in Dream home and featured on the cover of Faux Effects world will be featured. An intense class designed for the professional artisan who wants to offer more intricate and unique finishes. Traditional lime based plasters are featured in this workshop along with StucoLux™, and LimeLux™. Encaustic, stucco marble, fresco marmorino, stucco lustro, travertine, embedded and masking patterns are a few of the finishes completed. The history of lime based coatings will be discussed with an explanation of the process of how lime hardens. You will receive a detailed explanation of the fundamentals of working with lime based plasters, the proper colorants to use, and how to deal with the many different situations which occur, such as dealing with large surface areas. Proper substrate preparation, application tools and their uses will be covered. You will learn various ways to correctly finish edges and corners, how to make a shiny stucco matte or dull and the benefits of a matte finish marmorino, how to waterproof with natural soap, how to use a variety of waxes, make elegant borders around doors and windows, how to correctly finish columns and how to apply special effects, such as metallics. Additional samples completed: Multi-layered finishes, stucco ludo, pull-off and relief plasters, lime paint, cracked venetian plaster.
