While we have firmly established our reputation as the
industry leader in cutting edge products for the high
end faux and decorative finishing professional, the driving force
behind Faux Effects®
is far more complex. With the current trend moving toward mass
produced paints, glazes and topcoats, manufactured in larger and
larger batches just to remain competitive, far more is being lost
than just the quality of the products themselves.
During the Renaissance era, artists used hand-ground
natural materials to produce their great works of art, giving them
a natural color, translucency, luminance, and texture that simply
cannot be reproduced by synthetic means and do not lend themselves
to today's methods of production or application. These great works
were produced using time-honored techniques that were handed down
through the ages, from father to son, and from teacher to student.
In today's fast paced world where almost everything is produced to
be disposable, these methods and techniques that are priceless
heirlooms of a glorious past, are almost all but forgotten.
At Faux Effects®
, our engineering department uses the best of today's technology
to scour the globe to find those lost minerals and natural substances
necessary to produce products capable of reproducing the colors
and textures that make up the tapestry of our past. Our Studios
teach not only the best of today's faux and decorative finishing
techniques, but also the historical art forms of Trompe L'oeil,
Faux Bois, Murals, Grottesca, and Classical Ornamentation. The Studios
we have chosen to represent us are hand picked not only
for their talent and accomplishments, but also for their
continuing support for our firm commitment to ensuring that these
age old art forms are not lost to future generations.
