AquaCrackle®
AquaCrackle® is a water-based paint material that is applied over AquaSize™ in Faux Effects® two-part crackle paint system (see AquaSize™). Simply brush, roll or spray on a generous coat of AquaCrackle® paint over AquaSize™ once it has set and is tacky.
Generous coats of both AquaSize™ and AquaCrackle® will produce largest crackle patterns; lighter coats will produce smaller crackle patterns. Applying AquaCrackle® in one direction will produce linear, ladder-type cracks. Sponging or rolling on the material in different directions will give a random, rounded pattern. It is best to complete a separate work sample to insure desired results.

CrackleMate™
CrackleMate™ is a clear additive that transforms SetCoat® bonding paint or acrylic latex paint to create crackling paint. The CrackleMate™/paint mixture is then applied over AquaSize™ once it has set and is tacky.
Normal addition is 30% CrackleMate™ to 70% paint. Do not exceed 60% when adding to any paint material. CrackleMate™ added to SetCoat® bonding paint produces very good results. When adding CrackleMate™ to latex paint, varying degrees of success depend upon the particular brand of paint and the amount added.

AquaSize™
AquaSize™ is a sizing material used as the base for a crackle finish. This glue-like material must be used to create crackle effects in Faux Effects® two-part crackle system. When dry to a tacky condition, AquaCrackle® or a CrackleMate™/paint mixture is applied over top. As it dries, cracks form creating a classic crackle paint appearance.
